I received an e-mail yesterday about a new movie coming out in December, it’s called “The Golden Compass” and it is based on the trilogy of books by Philip Pullman who Snopes.com calls an “avowed atheist”.

The movie is supposedly a watered down version of the first book in this three book story called “His Dark Materials”, the book has received many awards including the Carnegie Medal for Children’s Literature in 1995 and 2007 and is said to have sold over 15 million copies worldwide.

The book’s author is quoted over at Snopes.com as saying: “I don’t profess any religion; I don’t think it’s possible that there is a God; I have the greatest difficulty in understanding what is meant by the words ‘spiritual’ or ‘spirituality'”.

This trilogy of books (not this movie) ends with the children killing God so that everyone can do as they please.

This is just a heads-up from me, I haven’t read the books or seen the film, but I’d go see this film myself first before blindly dragging the kids along. You can see the movie trailer HERE.

While it appears to be another “good vs. evil” film, you gotta consider the source….

Sometimes we get caught up in the Holiday movie rush and can expose ourselves and our children to more harm than good.

Thanks Maria, for sending me that information.

See ya.
